My "Mercury Pocket Pen" is named after the "Mercury Dime" which was in circulation between 1916 and 1945 and was also referred to as the "Winged Liberty" dime. This is the third pen in my "Liberty" series.

I was fascinated the first time I attended a Pen Show at the sheer volume of vintage pens available and the history of their manufacture. I also found it interesting that there were very few, if any options if one wanted to own a pocket fountain pen other than purchasing a new modern, mass-produced pen or to obtain one from a vintage pen dealer.

The size and design of this pen is very similar to the 1000's of vintage pens you will find at any pen show having been produced for over 100 years by many companies. The size is however uncommon in the Artisan Fountain Pen community.

There are two sizes available, long and short.

Short Model

The "short" measures approximately 120mm (4-3/4") when capped and ~112mm (4-3/8") uncapped to the tip of the nib. The cap is also postable if desired. When posted the pen is ~150mm long.

Long Model

The "long" measures approximately 135mm (5-3/8") when capped and ~125mm (5") uncapped to the tip of the nib. When posted the pen is ~160mm long.

The pen weighs in at between 11 and 16 grams depending on material.
The cap uses 11mm triple-start threads and is 13.5mm in diameter.
The barrel is approximately 11.5mm with the male cap threads themselves being cut into the section, rather than in the barrel.
This pen is designed for standard international cartridges and comes with a Standard International cartridge for the long model.
The pen can be eye-dropper'd by using silicone grease
This pen is designed for a Jovo or Schmidt #5 nib or a Schmidt Rollerball nib.
